Let’s Go Skydiving

A video summary of Jim’s first 25 jumps. Yes, I jump out of perfectly good airplanes. I’ve also taken my family and staff on these adventures. This was in 2004, when I was Director at CHI. Posted because I thought they’d give Larra some thrills and chills, and perhaps a bit of vertigo.

Today

Larra and I spoke on the phone for an hour today, but I think the better conversation might have been our text messages. Life’s a Beach

Colorado

June 24, 2016 – 11 a.m. found us coming into Colorado. We drove South to Denver, then turned left for Kansas.   A fun diner we found, Gunther Toody’s. It’s done as a 60’s period place, great staff, good food. The prices are modern, though. LOL Of course Larra made friends with the staff. Unfortunately, […]

Finally Wyoming

June 24th, 2016, and the evening of June 23 – After almost a full day of driving, we finally got out of Montana and made it to Wyoming. We spent the night in Casper. Our hotel overlooked the city. The next day we drove the length of the state, North to South. A faint rainbow.

Trekking Across Montana

June 22 & 23, 2016 – We crossed into the USA at Sweetgrass, Montana, a hundred miles or so south of Calvary. We knew we were back in the States when we saw the Paper Dollar Bar. LOL Small town, middle of nowhere, low on gas. Larra goes in for coffee, makes friends with the […]

Life’s a Beach

April 20, 2016 – Today I took Larra to Life’s a Beach, a pub in downtown Kihei.  The barmaid recommended the Mai Tai Special, which was about a liter of alcohol – it was a wine carafe full. Needless to say, Larra was feeling no pain by the time she finished it. She even made […]

Greers Ferry Lake, Arkansas

June 29, 2016 – Because Mick is a volunteer EMT – he drives the ambulance, a cool job – he gets to borrow rental boats down at the Fairfield Bay Marina at no charge. Today Mick took us out on Greers Ferry Lake. We crossed under the bridge at Hwy 16 and back, then the […]

Cigarette-Free for 30 Days

September 6, 2016 – Today I celebrated 30 days of being free from cigarettes. I posted the news on Facebook and here’s the feedback I got – 46 comments and 90 reactions. That’s the most I’ve ever gotten on a post. Wow. And… The support really helps!   Here was my previous Facebook support: How […]

The Yahweh Wellness Center, Part 2

July 30, 2016 – Larra and Jim with Hiawatha Cromer. Photos of the grounds of the Assembly of Yahweh retreat center, and buildings. Hiawatha’s place. The grounds – 80 acres of it. Hiawatha’s neighborhood. The Assembly center, above, and Hiawatha’s garden. The “white house,” where Jim and Larra stayed.   Larra thought the mornings in […]

Jim’s Popular Portrait

August 21, 2016 – Larra snapped this photo of me at a Cracker Barrel restaurant in Illinois, and posted it to Facebook. It got more Likes than anything we’ve posted so far on the trip. LOL So can anyone tell me why?

39 Degrees C in the Shade (102 F)

August 14, 2016 – We were driving back to the farm in Georgia and stopped for lunch in Aiken, South Carolina. I parked in the shade, but when we came back out to the car is was 39 C – 102 F. Larra had never seen a temperature this high, and shot this photo. It’s […]

Iron Horse Hotel & Restaurant

August 22, 2016 – Blackwater, Missouri – One of the coolest buildings in town is the Iron Horse Hotel and Restaurant, built in the 1880s. Larra and I were looking in the windows and it appeared to be fully restored. As we were leaving, a man walked over from across the street, introduced himself as […]

Blackwater, Missouri

Aug 22, 2016 – We pulled off the Interstate because the iExit app said there was food, and nothing for another 30 miles. We had to drive a few miles into town, but when we got there, it was charming! We had lunch with the locals at Annie’s Cafe, then prowled town taking photos for […]

Mount Rushmore

Aug 24, 2016 – The highlight and end of our trip across South Dakota came with our afternoon visit to Mount Rushmore. As you come driving up the highway from Keystone there’s a great view of the monument without having to pay for parking. With my senior’s pass we get into US National Parks for […]
